Bedele Regional Veterinary Laboratory Center (BRVLC) was established in 1973 E.C (1981 G.C). It was found in the western part of Oromia Regional state in Buno Bedele Zone Bedele district of Bedele town at the distance of 500km far from Addis Abeba.
It is built by Ethiopian government and Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) over4 hectare at the beginning for the purpose of surveying and control of trypanosomosis and tsetse fly which was highly found distributed in the area.

After certain years for the surveying and control of trypanosomes and tsetse fly separate place was selected for building of the house as the National tsetse and trypanosome Control Center. This is aimed that the original diagnostic laboratory totally started to give disease diagnosis, survey and surveillance, outbreak investigation and, vaccination activity report (DOVAR2), capacity building of districts and recommends on the control and prevention of animal diseases under Oromia Regional state. As one of state regional veterinary laboratory of the country BRVLC play a role in disease diagnosis for long period of time from which changes and improvements comes in a society.
The compound of the laboratory is protected with mesh wire so that the movement of different livestock and pet animal are limited. There is no cross contamination between laboratory and neighboring house residence. The laboratory has only one entrance with two parts one part for in and out going of personnel; the other part is for in and out going of the laboratory and guests logistics (car) movement.
2.Scope
The lab has its own strategic plan to improve service and to enhance the customer preference from the laboratory. There are the scopes of BRVLC under which it targets and manage itself for further success. The laboratory highly works to satisfy customer need so that any compliance that may face the laboratory should accepted and worked on it to address as it is needed. The laboratory has mission and vision according to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 of newly developed Ethiopian standard.
2.1. Mission
Disease diagnoses and investigation of animal health related problems in the area where it gives service.
Handling of disease outbreak and taking appropriate action for the control together with zone and district veterinarian
Training and capacitating veterinarians, lab technologist and team leaders of district and zone animal and fishery of our customer area and if needed for others
Achieving quality testing until getting certification and accreditation against activities
running under different laboratory department /section

2.2.Vision
Observation of profitable customer from quality management system implementation in our organization
Seeing established, maintained and implemented quality management system bring changes on personnel, working area till arriving international standard.
Getting certification, accreditation and international acceptance against implementation of LQMS as the country and international standard.

3.Working hours

BRVLC has its own working hours like any other organization under which the laboratory gives service for its customers. Any one of the laboratory personnel have the obligation to respect the working hour of the laboratory. The laboratory employee personnel works in the time allocated for any government employee of the country which is Eight hour of working time.
Every person of the laboratory has the right and responsibility to:
Inter the office before 2:30 AM in the morning
The use of Lunching time 6:30 – 7:30 AM/PM
Interring of the office before 7:30 PM
Leaving the office after 11:30 PM local time
Any customer who needs to gate any service from our laboratory is must arrange his time to our working time.
